	"Technology And The Fight Against Terror" In 1987 I was a Corporal stationed with the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During our deployment to the Mediterranean we were engaged in a field exercise in Spain. One night while on patrol my Battalion Commander who was a Viet Nam veteran said something I'll never forget. As he held up a pair of night vision goggles with his right hand, he barked out loudly, "Don't take these things lightly. Just imagine how many lives we could have saved in Viet Nam with more technology like this." Since that moment the words "How many lives we could have saved with more technology like this," never left my memory. The great benefits MTCSC offers me are more than appreciated but there could be no replacement for the opportunity to be a part of what this company stands for. The MTCSC Enhanced Company Operations (ECO) team exemplifies the Marine Corps three pillars of Honor, Courage and Commitment. To know that even at the end of a bad day, we helped out a unit or a single Lance Corporal learn a new piece of technology that might save his or her life in combat is something that can rarely be found in the rest of corporate America. From the MTCSC corporate boardroom in Stafford, Virginia to the forward edge of the battlefield, technology plays its role in the fight on terror. At some point both the Enhanced Company Operations team and the Corps find themselves bonded together by a common cause called freedom. Months before a Marine Corps unit's deployment takes place, personnel from both of these teams will find themselves working, sweating and laughing together for long challenging hours of classroom instruction. After five days the end product emerges as a young motivated Marine having the confidence of both basic communication skills and "Thinking out of the Box" schemes of maneuver. These warriors learning to pass data over a High Frequency radio that may carry an most wanted picture to another checkpoint hundreds of miles away in 20 was the result of vision and the courage to make it happen. I am proud to serve an organization that serves our country.
